Needle Syringe Program
Ovens and King Community Health Service operates a FREE Needle Syringe Program (NSP) aimed at reducing the harms associated with injecting substance use. This includes a reduction in the potential spread of blood borne viruses such as Hepatitis C.
Through creating a safe, confidential and non-judgemental environment where people can receive sterile injecting equipment, condoms, information and support, we are able to promote the principles of safer use and disposal of injecting equipment.
All of the staff at the community health service are trained to provide this service.
Accessing the Needle Syringe Program at the Community Health Service, brings people into contact with the range of other programs being offered, such as Counselling, the Dietician, Sexual Health services or the Alcohol and Drug Service. A referral can be arranged with a worker from any program if this is requested.
