Victims Assistance and Counselling Program

Please download our Victims Assistance brochure.

Hume Victims Assistance Program (Hume VAP) provides an integrated service for victims of crime in the Hume region.  Hume VAP is one of nine regional programs across Victoria funded by the Department of Justice.  The programs work closely with the Victims Support Agency, the central resource for victims of violent crime and the key agency in formulating a whole-of-government response to victims of crime.

Hume VAP aims to assist victims of crime to overcome the negative effects of the trauma of crime, by providing information, advocacy, referrals, emotional and practical support throughout the recovery process.

The service is available to anyone whose life has been affected as a result of a crime.  This includes victims, their families and friends and witnesses of crime.  Hume VAP case workers provide information about the police and court processes, access to appropriate counselling, support to apply for financial assistance from the Victims of Crime Assistance Tribunal, referrals to other support services and Court support.

This is a free service
