Family & Children's Services
Promoting health & wellbeing together through: - physical activity - participation in community groups
The Family and Children's Services Program is based in Wangaratta and provides services to the Rural City of Wangaratta and the Ovens Valley. It incorporates a range of programs that enhance the health and wellbeing of individuals and communities and prevent illness, disease and injury. Programs and projects are:
- Community Development, Ovens Valley & Wangaratta
- Community Health Nursing, Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Bright
- Family Health and Youth Clinic, Myrtleford and Wangaratta (G.P. Clinic in Wangaratta)
- Friendly Visiting Program, Bright
- Health Promotion, Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Bright
- Maternal and Child Health Program, Wangaratta, Moyhu, Whitfield
- Ovens Valley Volunteer Transport, Myrtleford and Bright
- Youth Participation, Bright and Myrtleford
- Financial Counselling, Myrtleford and Bright
- Casework, Wangaratta, Myrtleford and Bright
The Family and Children's services team will promote and strengthen the health and wellbeing of the communities, families and individuals in the Rural City of Wangaratta and Ovens Valley by:
- Providing accessible services that are based on identified needs.
- Supporting communities to foster partnerships with our service and other groups and organisations and aim for planned and integrated services delivery for better health outcomes.
- Strengthen capacity by providing information, building skills and knowledge, advocating and encouraging participation.
- Responding appropriately with a planned, considered, informed and sensitive manner within a strategic framework.

- Alpine Shire
- Northeast Health Wangaratta
- To foster joint planning and integrated service models
